- I think my child may have dyslexia, what should I do?
In the first instance it is always best to approach your child’s school. Schools work hard to support their pupils, and your child’s class teacher may also have noticed that your child is struggling with literacy. You can then plan a way forward together.

- My child’s school is unable to arrange for an assessment, what next?
A school may be unable to arrange an assessment for a variety of reasons, and they will usually explain these to you. It may be that your child can have an assessment, but there will be a long wait. In these circumstances you may wish to talk through the options.
We can point you in the direction of your Local Authority service who might help, as well as to our own menu of services.
- At what age can I request an assessment?
From the age of six or seven. We would be reluctant to diagnose before this age (as the test results would be less clear), and your child does need time to settle into school, to
get to grips with language and sounds, to have some fun, and to find their learning feet!
